Your Questions About [get Your Dog To Eat]

Laura asks…

How do i make my dog love me again?

OK well i have a good dog he is a Chihuahua 3 months but sometimes he gets a little out of hand, i know that they are puppies and we should cut them some slack but not to much where they are just getting into everything and not obeying you. and this morning he got way out of hand he wasnt listening to me and wasnt letting my other dog eat he kept barking at her and jumping everywhere. I said no and tried things to calm him down or played with his toys but he was just to hyper and being bad to i kinda hit him and he cried a lil, so maybe i hit him too hard and now he hates me. I didn’t mean to hit him sooo hard i swear on my life and i didnt want to do it but he was jus getting out of hand and not obeying and now i feel as tho he is scared of me and sometimes when i get near him he runs away or something. SO how can i make it up to him and let him know that i am not danger i love my dogs to death and i don’t want any of them to feel as though i am a mean abusing person because im not. So how do i get him to love me again and be with me again like he used to please help my dogs mean everything to me! thank you

He’ll get over it. You are his pack leader, or should be, and you are the source of his food. Next time, instead of smacking him, grip his scruff and give him a little shake when he’s being a snot. It’s what his mother would do.

Sandra asks…

MY DOG ATE CHOCOLATE!!!!?

i came out into my kitchen and saw them eating chocolate, i dont know how much, what i know is what kind of chocolate and that they ate it. I even smelled their breathe to make sure i wasnt freaking out over nothing. And it smelt just like cadbury eggs (use link 2 see wat they are http://www.pbase.com/soleilmia/image/58750370.jpg )

and thats exactly what was in the bowl they were eating from. they are cavalier puppies, so not very big, one is 6 months and the other is 4 months old. if yuo have a pet u now… THEY ARE LIKE FAMILY! and i couldnt stand to lose them. btw my parents said theres nothing they can do and took a nap, its like they don’t even care! if u have any links with info, or anything they can eat do “de-poison” the chocolate PLEASE tell me. Any info is VERY VERY VERY appreciated. even if its not much to say and u know you wont get the winning points frum it PLEASE tell me!
i didnt have it lying around, it was on the counter and some on left a chair by it….. and well… you can asume the rest.

Cavaliers are certainly chow hounds! Please call the vet and let him/her know what happened They are probably fine…watch them carefully overnight for the following symptoms…shaking, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, glassy eyes. If you see anything like this, take the dog in. You should see something within the next few hours if at all. They might have diarrhea tomorrow. If they are just showing some gastric upset, feed them bland diet, plenty of water and they should be fine in another day or two. For future reference, post the number of your local poison control near your phone in case the pups find something else not good for them. And try hard to keep those things locked away from them. They will probably be OK…good luck.

Charles asks…

Why is it so “immoral” for some Asians to eat dog?

What a backwards, borderline racist view some people have. And I’m not even talking about vegans, since they don’t want any animals to be eaten, but the meat eaters in Western society who look down on people who, in Asian countries, eat dog or I think even cat.

How is that any different than us eating cow or pig? Okay, I get that YOU wouldn’t eat a dog, probably because you have a pet dog and we are so emotionally attached to them, but why would you ever give someone else grief for eating dog in another country, and then go home to your steak and pork dinners? That’s so unbelievably hypocritical and backwards it’s not even funny.

I wish some people from India came over here and started freaking out on you for eating cow, their holy animal, and see how you like having your common cultural practices ridiculed because they’re different than others.
You smartasses, here’s your question:

If you are a meat eater living in a Western society, why do you think it is immoral for an Asian to eat a dog?
You guys are missing my point. I fully understand why someone in a Western society would not want to eat dog, the problem I have is with people who think Asians living in Asian countries are wrong for eating dog.

Don’t eat dog if you don’t want to, but who are you to give others trouble for doing what’s common practice in their society?

I think it’s all about perception and I think that’s where you were heading with your comments. For those living in the US, not only are dogs not eaten, but some people treat their pets better than other humans, so it’s understandable that some people would think it’s wrong to eat dogs. However, as you said, in other coutries the things we eat in the US are viewed as wrong, so I’m sure if you were living in those countries it’d be the same exact thing. I don’t think it’s racist, maybe ignorant.
