Your Questions About [get Your Dog To Eat]

Sharon asks…
My dog won’t eat. She hasn’t ate anything in over a week..?
I’ve offered her some of her favourite foods, but she doesn’t touch it. She has had a touch of vomiting and diarehia, and seems quite low/depressed when she is in the house. But when she is out on her walk she perks right up and acts like her usual self. Whats wrong with her? She is a German Shepherd.

She has been to the vet 3 times. The first two times they kept telling us it was a stomach bug. They took her in today for tests, and now im just wondering what is wrong with her.

Ruth asks…
My dog won’t eat anything?
He was acting fine this morning, but suddenly, he wouldn’t eat anything. Not dog treats, turkey, I even gave him some beef jerky. He took it in his mouth for a second then let it drop to the ground. He kept licking his lips, he knew it was tasty, but just wouldn’t eat. He isn’t whining like he hurts, he isn’t moping around either, he just won’t eat. I found a pack of toilet paper in the back yard that wasn’t put away yet, I think he may have eaten some of it, this dog will eat anything he comes in contact with. Do you think he just ate some toilet paper and is having issues passing it through? Seeing as it is two in the morning, I can’t exactly contact a vet. Do you think this is something really bad? Should I be concerned?
Also, he is a sixty pound dog (probably a little more than that), german shepherd husky mix, if that pertains to anything.
And yes, a chunk of one of the rolls was gone and had teeth marks on it.

I think your dog will be fine and may have some tummy troubles, but was there evidence to make you think that your dog ate toilet paper? If your dog doesn’t eat in the morning or worsens definitely make a trip to the vet.

Carol asks…
My dog won’t eat anything that he has to chew, What should I do?
He has, within that last few months, cut his adult teeth. One of the adolecent canines did not fall out when the adult canine grew in, causing some crowding in his mouth. Would that cause him not to eat? Should I have it removed?

admin answers:
How old is he know? Puppies can go off their dry food when they get their adult teeth, if they do, I usually just soften the dry food a little by adding water. Don’t leave it out for too long afterward as it will spoil.
Sometimes the puppy canine will not fall out as the adolescent canine grows in, they will usually fall out later, but if it has been weeks, then you will need to take the dog to the vet as the puppy canine might have to be pulled out not to damage the position of the permanent tooth. Some small breeds in particular have a problem with this.
