My female dog is dripping but it is not blood. She will not stop licking her toy and guards it. Pregnant? ?
She is suddenly very finicky about eating and will hardly leave her toy’s side whimpering when she cannot find it. Growls at our male when he gets too near it.

Or, she may have an infection and need to see a vet for antibiotics. When was she last in heat, it takes approx 63 days for gestation. I hope that you kept records of her seasons and did not allow them to mate indiscriminately. If you did, definitely go to the vet to get her tested.

Why does my dog do this?
My dog has always had this thing where she doesn’t eat or drink alot when we are gone. That’s why this hot weather and her being outside all day worries me. Alot of times such as yesterday, I put about 3 gallons of water out for her and she hardly touched it until we got home. Why do dogs do this? She is finicky. Also, when she goes to eat her dog food, shw will pick out 1 piece of food, take it in the next room, either eat it or sniff it and leave it lying there, maybe go get another and do the same thing, then she will usually eat those pieces, and then go into the kitchen where her food is and start eating finally and usually eat most or all of what is in her dish then. Is this weird? Anyone have any clues as to why she has these eating/drinking habits?

I’ve had two dogs in my life and they both have done this. The not eating/drinking if I’m not home and taking the food elsewhere. No idea why.
Please make sure your dog has shade if she’s outside all day.

do dogs get depressed…seriously.?
we moved about 1.5 months ago to our studio apt with barely any room or furniture and before that we were in a den sized room for about 2 months in a house with two other roommates and a bunch of animals. before that we were in a nice sized 1 bedroom apt with lots of furniture for a year and a year before that we were in a 2 bedroom apt for a year. we’ve definitely downsized because of money and the crappy economy. we’re saving up for a bigger and better place but my terrier always looks sad. she has a canine buddy and they play alot. is the move and the drastic space and furniture upsetting my dog? i mean, i have to put hot water in her food or feed her wet food or she just won’t eat. will it get better after we’re in a bigger apt with a view of the outside. i think that b/c she can’t see outside she is also getting upset about that. i don’t know what to do. i have bought them treats and toys and i switch dogfoods b/c she is a finicky eater to begin with, but it is tough.

Yes dogs do get depressed, and then they don’t eat when they are depressed. Also, dogs are very empathetic and sensitive. They can sense fear and stress in others especially their masters.
