So wait? Your dog is eating like she’s never eaten before, and when she is with your dad she growls at you and your sister but is fine with the two of you when dad is not around? I think i got all that, but i’m not sure what exactly your question is…..

How can I make my dog eat more calmly?
When he eats he will eat so fast and it looks like he doesn’t even chew his food. He will do this everyday and he will choke and sometimes throw up. My other dog doesn’t do this but she is older this one just turned a year. How can I get him to slow down when he eats or is this normal? I figured Id feed him by hand and thought maybe he would get used to eating a little slower but my mom said he would get used to that and not ever eat on his own.. what should I do?

Problem with getting the puppy to eat?
I’ve got an 10 week old puppy (Aussie, 8.5 lbs last week) who is supposed to eat 1 3/4 cups of food (at the least) according to many sites and the bag of food I currently have. I don’t think I’ve filled up his food dish more than 6 or 7 times since I’ve owned the little guy (2 weeks now). He’ll grab a nibble every now and then but never actually sit down and eat for more than 30 seconds or so. At first we thought he just never had to compete with his litter-mates so he ate slow. But he isn’t putting on any weight. I can feel his ribs under his fur and even his hip bones a little. The first thing we changed was his food, we thought hey maybe he doesn’t like Iams. I instead put him on Innova puppy food (a much better brand) and it seemed like he’d eat a little more but still not nearly enough. Is there anything I can do to get him to eat more? I’m worried about him, I’ve never had a dog eat so little.
Breeder used Purina dog chow… I’d rather not have to feed him that if possible. Wal-mart brand foods are… Yeah.
Pretty sure he isn’t sick, the little guys still acting like a psycho. Play biting, wrestling, chewing on everything, playing tug o war.
He was at the vet last week, everything checked out so he’s fine. Up to date on all his shots and has gone through several rounds of wormer just to be sure.

He is possibly stressed from the move. Changing homes for a puppy can be extremely difficult. Try adding milk to his food. Or feeding him canned food. Or after he eats a little, give him a treat and tell him good boy- just encourage him to eat. If it doesn’t improve within a week or two, take him to a vet.
