Your Questions About [get Your Dog To Eat]

Charles asks…
Why is My Cat Getting Sick After Every Meal??
I have an 8 year old tabby. He is over-weight and eats too much. He gets sick after every meal. I feed him less then my other cat (who has a healthy weight) I try to keep him from eating my other cats food as well but then he just goes and eats my dogs food and gets sick. Soo why is he still over-weight if hes sick after every meal? He used to go outside when he was younger (now he just stays on the patio) but its been a few years. Also, why does he keep eating when it must not feel good to eat that much? How is he still over-weight?! Please help me!

Your cat could have an obstruction in his digestion track causing him to vomit or have something else going on like an infection. I had a cat who would throw up every thing she ate when she had bladder infections. It was the only way I knew she had the infection. My cat now throws up when here thyroid levels are out of whack.

Jenny asks…
Why is my dog sick? He ate a roll of sinew.?
My dog ate a roll of sinew and has been pooping it out for a few days and just started to puke this morning. He won’t eat his dog food, or drink any water. What kind of effects could sinew have on him? Should I take him to a vet or will it pass?
Also, he seemed to be fine the last few days after eating it, but got lose yesterday and may have gotten into something else.
Another thing it could possibly be from is drinking run off water from the streets at the dog park.
Let me know what you all think please. I could use the help.

admin answers:
Yeah, I don’t think it’s the sinew, although I suppose it’s possible that it’s bunging him up somewhere internally.
When a dog wont even drink water, then it’s serious enough to see a vet.
There’s too many things that could be wrong here. I’d make an appointment asap.

Thomas asks…
Is it normal for a dog to eat grass?
Why is that she is eating it every time i take her out. I thought maybe it was lack of vitamins? But her dog food is supposed to have everything she needs besides i give her steamed vegetables. What is annoying she is occasionally being sick after that or even worse – long blades of grass get stuck guess where : Should i never allow her to eat it?

“It’s a normal part of their diet,” says Holly Frisby, DVM, of Doctors Foster & Smith, Inc. In Wisconsin. Wild canine relatives of dogs–wolves and foxes–eat all of an animal when they catch it. They end up, therefore, eating grasses and plants in the intestines of these animals. Domestic dogs, eating prepared dog food, lack this part of their diet and so they eat grass.
“They just like it!” Frisby also says. She mentions a beagle that picks raspberries faster than his owner.
Another reason: dogs may eat grass when they have an upset stomach in order to cause vomiting. “The grass will bind with the offending material. Then the grass acts as an irritant and causes the dog to vomit, bringing up the poisonous material at the same time,” says Celia Feiler, DVM, of Winston Veterinary Hospital in North Carolina.
Finally, dogs may appear to eat grass, says Feiler, when they are just running the blades through their mouth to gather information. Their sense of smell and taste may act together to detect if other animals have walked through their area or urinated on the grass.
