Nancy asks…

how do you train a dog to fetch?

admin answers:

First train them to come. Usually you do this by having the dog stay in one position and tell them to come. And your dog does so, give them a treat. When your dog is ready for the next level, throw the ball and usually the dog will bite onto it. Then use your come command. Praise him and treat your dog everytime they do it. In the beginning you might have a hard time bc they only come half way or drop the ball too early. Just be patient and praise him for every little progress. Sooner or later, your dog will learn. Good luck!

Charles asks…

Which are more loyal & loving, dogs or cats? Why? also, how do you train a dog to fetch, sit, etc?

admin answers:

Dogs are waaaaay more loving and loyal because it’s just in their nature really. They love attention and when you interact with them. Cats are kinda sneaky. They are the cousins of the wild animals like Lions, Tigers etc and you have to agree that they are sneaky also because of where they live and it helps them survive.but cats are smart and they love to interacted with too but they like to be left alone sometimes. Most dogs are very energetic anyway so usually when you throw something that they like to chew on or sleep with they will chase it. It also helps when you give them a little treat after they do a good job because then they are motivated to sit, fetch, lye down etc.

P.S. If you want the process of fetching to go easy just buy them a toy that they like. Take them to Petco or Petsmart and show them different toys that can make a noise (squeaky). Then from there let them spend time with the toy, like in the house or outside, from there when you take the toy from them (like out of there mouth) and you throw it they will definitely chase it.

Hope this helps :)
