Your Questions About [get Your Dog To Eat]

Lisa asks…
My dog won’t eat?
?
Hello, could someone help me get my dog to eat? He’s not sick and I don’t think he has an upset stomach… We usually always add human food to his kibble and he would eat it all. This morning I added Mac and cheese and for the first time he refused to eat any of it, but he gladly eats cheese and bologna, etc. He’s been barely eating and I think Ive been hearing his stomach growl a lot today.. I know he’s hungry and I give him cheese and stuff, but why won’t he eat the kibble? If we put meat in, he picks out only the meat! Please help! I don’t want him to starve! My mother left for 2 weeks, but I don’t think he’s too homesick because he’s happy to be home at our other house and he has my stepmother… What can I possibly give him to eat or what should I do? Please help, thank you!!

admin answers:
Pour warm water over the kibble to soften and heat it. If this does not entice him, go to your local pet store and pick up some dog-friendly meal sauce. It enhances the flavor and is useful in weaning dogs over to different foods. If the problem appears more serious than this, try him on some hypo-allergenic kibble such as James Wellbeloved. These foods come in a variety of flavors and usually satisfy the fussiest dogs.

If you are worried she won’t make it through the night then find the closest ER clinic and get her there!

Jenny asks…
My new dog won’t eat, how do I get her to?
I recently took in a family member’s dog they could no longer take care of, and she won’t eat. At her previous home, food was out at all times for the dogs to eat whenever they wanted; but here, we feed our dogs two times a day and two times a day only (in the morning and in the evening). She has been here about two and a half days and hasn’t eaten a thing. When the bowl is put down, she tries to eat out of the other dog‘s (who will not let her) or just walks away. I’m afraid if she doesn’t start eating we’ll have to take her back. What can I do?

admin answers:
She may be wary of her new environment, its only been 2 days, moving is stressful for animals aswell as humans. Try feeding her in a separate room, and if the bowl youre feeding her from is not her origional one and just an old one you had lying around buy a new one so it will only have her scent on it…
