Your Questions About [get Your Dog To Eat]

Carol asks…

My 4 month old puppy will barely eat his dog food.?

He is not sick, perfectly healthy, has had all shots and a vet check.
He is a pomeranian/papillon mix.

He doesn’t like dog food.. He ate pretty fine the first 2 months i had him, although he did get tired of his food (nutro natural choice puppy) So i started mixing some wet food in it and he loved it until now he’s sick of it AGAIN.

I understand how he feels because i can never just keep eating the same food again and again. So now i’ve been trying to switch him to wellness puppy food, but he doesn’t seem to like it either. He will only eat if i put it on the floor for him or i’d have to try and force it.. :/ But he would only eat about 1 or 2 spoonfuls and that’s it.

I really don’t know what to do with him, i don’t have the money to try every dog food out there for him. The only dog food that he does seem to like is Beneful puppy chow, the one that his previous owners fed him before i switched him to nutro.. But i do not allow him to eat it because of the corn and by-products.

WHAT SHOULD I DO? HELP!
He is also getting on the thinner side
(the vet said that it is normal and that he is at the perfect weight for his age)

But i really don’t believe it, he is going through his “uglies” and is losing his baby hair and you can really see his shape now and i just want him to be a little chubbier, my whole family is commenting on how skinny he is everyday and i feel that i’m starving him or something.

One of the first things you can do if your dog has suddenly stopped eating is check his food. Have you changed his food lately? Switching back and forth to a new food might trigger your dog not to eat, so you can go and get the food he is familiar with and give that a try. Always have plenty of water out for your dog. Also check your food for any ants or other bugs that may be inhabiting your dog’s food. That could be a real turn off for a dog.

Daniel asks…

how do I get my dog to eat his food?

I’ve tried every thing but he still doesn’t eat it.i took him to a doctor but he says that my dog is okay. Can somebody help me please

You must have a picky eater…. My dog was having problem with foods too…. I switched several brands and found one she likes. Have you tried canned foods. All dogs seem to like that. Or try salmon or tuna or lightly scrambled eggs. After my dog’s surgery she hardly ate at all but, loved salmon or eggs and the vet said it is fine.

Mark asks…

is there anyway to get my dog to eat his food!!!!!!!!?????

my 3 month old german shepher has been throwing up because of an accidental food ingestion.it was chicken mixed with mustard and mayonaise but anyways,i called the vet and she told him to feed him boiled rice to settle his stomach.i made him the rice but he wont take it,how can i make him eat even a little bit please?and i have a vet appointment tomorrow.

His stomach may still feel to upset to eat. Leave the rice where he can get to it (maybe if you mix an eensy bit of beef broth or wet food in it he’ll try a bit). When he feels up to it he’ll eat (leave some of his regular food down too). SInce you have a vet appt tomorrow I wouldn’t worry too much.
